The monumental hurdle to being a person living with a severe visual impairment is independence, mainly transportation. The inception of Lyft and Uber has created a much needed point-to-point access plan for the visually impaired. However, the cost of utilizing Uber or Lyft is sometimes so prohibitive that players will choose a three hour train over a forty minute Rideshare.

Two ice hockey players in action on an ice rink, one in yellow and the other in dark blue and black, both wearing helmets. The player in yellow is facing the player in dark blue who is moving towards a puck. Advertisements are visible along the rink boards.

Send an Assist Through the Air:

The number one obstacle for the visually impaired is transportation. With teams spread throughout the country, national events are necessary for growth and competition. Therefore, many of our blind hockey players are “practice players” for not other reason than their own fiscal responsibility.

Please assist our athletes with airline travel. While it is difficult for a small non-profit to crack the major airline mIle donation status, if your carrier allows you to transfer points, we will gladly take them off your hands!
